  • What is Tendermind?
Tendermind is an app designed to help children and adults with special needs manage their daily routines, schedules, and tasks, and to cope better with unplanned schedule changes and transitions between activities. The app is installed on at least two devices and has two interfaces, one for the parent or admin (admin) and one for the child or adult with special needs (end-user). The parent uses their admin app to set up, program, and maintain the end-user’s schedule, tasks, and alerts. The end-user uses their app to view, (optionally hear), and interact with their schedule, tasks, and alerts.
  • Who is Tendermind for?
Tendermind is intended for people who are neurologically diverse (such as autism, dyslexia, dyspraxia, and ADHD), or with cognitive challenges (such as intellectual developmental disability and other cognitive disabilities).
  • I am a neurodiverse adult – can I use Tendermind independently?
Currently the app is not designed for such use. It is intended to be used by a parent and their child (or adult child) with each installing the app on their own device.
  • I am a clinician / therapist / educator working with people with special needs - can I use the app?
Yes, but during the pilot it is not possible to register as a professional through the website or the app. Please send us an email to professional@tendermind.ai and we will return to you with details.
  • I am a parent - how does it work?
You install the app on your phone. Then when you first open the app you will be asked to create an account. Once created, you can set up the end-user profile for your child or person under your care. You can also set up the end-user’s schedule and change default settings for how the schedule and tasks are presented to the end-user. Once the app is also installed on the end-user’s device, you connect the two using a QR code created on your app. That’s it. Detailed user guides are available for registered users.
  • Can I install the parent app and the end-user app on the same device?
No, this is not currently possible. The app is the same app for parent and end-user but can only be configured to be used in one mode (parent or end-user) on a single device.
  • How should I get started?
Setting up the app and your child's schedule for the first time may take some time. We recommend setting aside a couple of hours to install the app, apply the right settings, and to set up an initial schedule for your child or the person under your care. Once the schedule is set up with most of the regular activities (using the repeat function makes it easy), adding one-off activities and amending existing activities will be easy and fast.
  • Can I add an additional end-user to my account?
Yes, if you have more than one child with special needs under your care you can open additional accounts for each of them under your parent / admin account.
  • Can I add an additional admin to the account?
Not during the pilot. This feature will be made available soon.
